Claudine Ebel: Styling Made Fun!

Every project we work on is a collaborative effort, with a team of people behind it that make it all come together. Working like this is a great experience because it allows for every person to focus on their piece of the project while getting to help and learn from others, and most of all meets cool, new people in the process! Speaking of cool people, it’s our pleasure to feature our friend and stylist-extraordinaire, Claudine Ebel on the blog today!

Claudine might have one of the best attitudes of anyone we’ve ever worked with.  ‘I love this! I love this!’ You can always tell when Claudine Ebel has entered the studio!  Full of creativity and fun-loving energy, she has had a great fashion sense from the get-go. She recalls that at age 5 her mom’s friends would ask who was dressing her! Little did they suspect that the cute kid whose style impressed them would grow up to be a stylist highly demanded in the industry. As Claudine would put it: ‘I was born to style.’

Having her natural talents guiding her the whole way, she’s ecstatic to be prospering in her career, saying that she’s “living the dream and it only gets better.” We at Studio 3 are lucky enough to be able to join her in saying that we’re living a dream, getting to work on cool projects for awesome clients and constantly meeting great new people. And of course, we’re always happy to help support another’s dream. Claudine Ebel’s presence is truly bright and always positive, making every shoot we work with her on a great working environment.

Take a look at Claudine’s talent from the shoot below, and be sure to check out her work in action, in her production, Flight Serena here! Keep up the great work, Claudine!

Product Photography Wind Up!

Chris Eltrich loves shooting product photography, especially when it comes to a fun product and an interesting background. Most recently he shot some great Nixon watches on textured backgrounds. It’s clear from these photos that the monochromatic look didn’t take away from the beauty of the watch. In Chris’ own words he describes his inspiration, lighting techniques, and love for product photography.

Portrait Photography of the Seattle Mist!

DList has commissioned Dana Jonas and Studio 3 to do editorial, fashion, and portrait photography. It is always great fun working with the lifestyle brand that represents a lavish, VIP lifestyle that includes dress, dine, drink, & dance. DList has some of the premiere events in the Northwest, including parties at local nightclubs, cover model searches, award shows, and an exclusive gold membership. It tends to be a great read full of must sees and highlights of favorite spots around Seattle.

In our recent shoot with the magazine we had the pleasure of shooting for the Seattle Mist, Seattle’s very own lingerie football league. These girls are serious athletes, practicing often and having more wins than losses. The LFL has gained popularity throughout Seattle as well of the rest of the country, with a huge tournament in Las Vegas, drawing hundreds of fans who root on the sport.  Shooting portrait photography of these girls was beyond fun. In Dana’s words, “we had sooooooooo much fun on this shoot with Seattle Mist for the cover and inside spread of DList’s January Issue. The girls had tons of personality, making it easy to tell they are truly an inspiring team of people”.  It was great having the whole team in studio and seeing the passion these girls have for the game. They also happened to make great models and perhaps we’ll have the opportunity to work with them on future projects.

We hope you’ll grab an issue when you see it on the stands to check out our portrait photography on the cover as well as learn about the girls of Seattle Mist! 🙂

Portrait Photography: Pets & Owners

If you haven’t figured it out by now, we love to have fun around here at Studio 3. We know the way to keep consistently working hard and putting out quality results is to occasionally indulge ourselves in fun projects. We recently got fun, funky, and dare I say it, furry with some portrait photography featuring people and their best little friends, their pets!
Just as best friends sometimes start to act alike, dress alike, and even look alike, the concept behind this fun shoot was to showcase how much these owners and their pets reflect each other and their personalities. We went bold and made the portrait photography really pop with bright, vibrant backdrops, colorful outfits, and some amazing poses by both models in each set!
Playing cute and coy in the magenta glow are Shayna Bee and Peach. Both rocking a wild and fun head of hair, we let the wind blow in their faces as they gave us their most adorable eyes. I hate to state the obvious, but they must share hair tips.
Next, sitting calmly and regally in the blue cast of the heavens above are Alyssa and Reef. Dressed in matching red tops, these two were great models! Reef sat like a pro, looking buff and cool and Alyssa did an awesome job of matching his pose. Attached at the hip, these two lovebirds were a great match. Reef visited us a few days later to pick up his portrait.
Last, possibly littlest, but definitely not least are Lauren Hale and Veronica, two women that love their bowls and aren’t afraid to show it. The two of them impressed us with their talents, Veronica being able to balance on her bowl like a champ and Lauren being able to fit into hers! Two cuties indeed, look at those noses!

Getting Healthy in the New Year?

Alright guys, let’s face it, New Year’s resolutions are everyone’s best friend and worst enemy.  They’re always a great way to justify dropping bad habits or picking up healthy ones, but somehow they always manage to get away from us all too quickly.  The most popular resolution anyone we’ve met has ever made is definitely to be healthier, be it making efforts to lose some weight, hitting the gym to get some muscles, or just learning to eat right and feel great all the time.  To help keep all of you as well as ourselves on track with those health related resolutions, Studio 3 put together a short list of healthy snacks we’ve learned about through our food photography, drink photography, and product photography projects for you to check out!

Sahale Snacks

We love getting to shoot for Sahale Snacks and we love their amazing snacks just as much!  Something a lot of people don’t realize about dieting and eating healthy is that fats aren’t all evil: good fats do exist and they’re in some tasty treats (especially nuts)!  Case in point: Sahale Snacks.  Founded on the simple idea of “taking all-natural ingredients, adding a dash of culinary magic, and producing great tasting snacks”.   Our recommendations: Cashews with Pomegranate and Vanilla and the Sing Buri Nut Blend.

Synergy Drinks

While kombucha might be a little bit of a daunting beverage to some because of the process to make it, we’ve found only great things in GT’s Kombucha from Synergy Drinks.  Each bottle offers a high amount of your daily vitamins and is a good source of probiotics that can aid in digestion.  Our flavor recommendations: Gingerade, Multi-Green, and Botanic no. 9.

KIND Snacks

One snack food we have around the Seattle studio at all times are KIND bars.  A favorite of our favorite food photographer, David Bell, these deliciously healthy bars are transparent about their ingredient list, letting you know exactly what you’re putting into your body.  They’re great for a simple breakfast snack, quick energy boost, or as an afternoon comfort food when on the go like we are here.  So happy David turned us on to these awesome products!  Our recommendations: Oats & Honey, Vanilla Blueberry, Apple Cinnamon & Pecan, and literally everything else they have!
Yum’s never felt so good!

Campy-Superhero-Fantasy!

No matter the time of day or what age we might be, we all love to daydream about all the things you would like to be when we grow up (you too, adults, we’re all still growing up). We thought we would offer you some super-fun inspiration! It’s got to be every photographer’s dream to get to shoot a real superhero and we at Studio 3 are all about making dreams come true. So in honor of all the daydreamers, comic book readers, Saturday morning cartoon watchers, and mighty superheroes watching over us, we used our own super powers to create some fun portrait photography in the studio!
We constructed the set for the shoot completely in studio, using everything we could find to create a real home feeling for this little Wonder Woman to strut her stuff in. Prepping for the shoot totally brought us all back to the days of playing in our living rooms for hours and hours! Rather than aiming to turn our model into the actual superhero, the concept behind the shoot was to capture the fun and whimsy of being a kid, piecing together your favorite hero’s costume with whatever you find. Our favorite parts are definitely those big cowboy boots (almost up to her knees!), her wild hair blowing majestically in the powerful winds of her fan, and of course that trusty tin foil sword!
By the looks of those stuffed dolls all around her, it looks like our Wonder Woman’s got quite a bit of citizens to look out for! Keeping imaginations running is the most important exercise there is the creative industry, so we always encourage routine daydreaming around the studio. Wherever you are, in whatever you’re doing, don’t forget to take a moment every day to think like a kid!

Food Photography King David Bell Gets Saucy

We are excited to share David Bell’s recent food photography series that not only focuses on sauce, but tends to bring the foodie out in all of us. Inspired by classic condiments and the edible items that compliment them, this series has us begging for more sauce and food photography of these delicious items. With David Bell’s ability to shoot food and product, this was a perfect combo, highlighting his ability to make a product look like a hero and food to look nothing short of delicious. David used his creative energy to incorporate different backgrounds, themes, and traditional favorites to get his idea across. Read below to find out the inside scoop on what inspired David Bell for this food photography shoot:

I love food, especially good food. When brainstorming the intent behind this food photography shoot, I knew one thing, good food likes good condiments. I myself enjoy the classics, tried and true, making almost anything these condiments are paired with even MORE delicious. The examples below are Big and Bold, making sure to highlight the product, reassuring the viewer the condiment is the real hero. Pairing these condiments with American food favorites, such as sandwiches and a Chinese food to go box, offered a well known visual nostalgia I couldn’t be happier with. When deciding on lighting I knew it had to match the flavor of the styling, therefore deciding to use bold lighting techniques that ensure the condiments look larger than life, just like their flavor. The lighting was essential to making the condiment not only dominate the image, but to also look beautiful enough to be an accessory at your next dinner party.
