Creating Visual Solutions: One Strap At A Time!

Posted on June 18, 2012

Studio 3 loves shooting product, what we love even more is partnering with local companies to help their visual concepts come to life. Recently, we had the chance to shoot the photography for a camera strap company. This was no ordinary photo shoot, David Bell and Craig Wagner had the fun task of reshooting their entire product line. They definitely had a blast working with the client by helping create their vision; styling straps to look as if they were on invisible bodies, accessorizing them, and making every feature noticeable. It’s rare that such a fun partnership comes along, but when it does the shoot ends with everyone feeling extremely accomplished and excited about the future possibilities. Photographers, David Bell and Craig Wagner, took this project in stride. Craig Wagner’s ability to create visual solutions are described in his own words:

This shoot was extremely challenging, David and I were using numerous skills to get the perfect shot, it seemed as if we were more like puppeteers creating realistic suspending products, that appeared to be wrapped around an invisible body. In order to meet the challenge we used such supplies as armature wire and monofilament to create the perfect visual. It was definitely a time in which we both had to step up and rise to a challenge that we embraced! Challenging shoots are definitely something I live for and never fear. I think it’s the challenges that make shooting unique and exciting with each new project!

Bike Photography In Two Styles!

Posted on June 1, 2012

Seattle and Portland are in the nation’s top ten bike friendly cities, so it’s no surprise our photographers are inspired by the environmentally friendly mode of transportation, therefore they get their bike photography on. Dana Jonas and Chris Eltrich teamed up to play out their personal strengths, with Dana shooting bicyclist Eddie and Chris shooting the fun color inspired product shots, it was a bike to remember. While Chris shot his series in studio, Dana chose a pier on Green Lake and here are her thoughts on bike photography:

I chose to shoot on a pier in Green Lake to have the option of creating the element of surprise. My goal was to have the viewer take a second look, like: what, wait, wow…is that guy riding on water? The model was great, seeing eye to eye on my vision. He even got so intense as making himself hyperventilate to look authentic. It was a great team and match up, I am definitely loving the fun visual result!

Product Photography Wind Up!

Posted on January 16, 2012

Chris Eltrich loves shooting product photography, especially when it comes to a fun product and an interesting background. Most recently he shot some great Nixon watches on textured backgrounds. It’s clear from these photos that the monochromatic look didn’t take away from the beauty of the watch. In Chris’ own words he describes his inspiration, lighting techniques, and love for product photography.

Garden Still Photography Party!

Posted on June 23, 2010

Studio 3, Inc. Seattle recently collaborated with longtime client Antica Farmacista on a joint video/ still photography project featuring a new product line shot in a classic garden setting. The lifestyle video shows Creative Director Shelley Callaghan dressing a table for a special event and highlights the elements of style that make Antica a high-end luxury brand perfect for every home.

When planning a project like this, that involves both video and still photography to capture the essence of our client, we always aim to make each component compliment the other rather than having them compete for the spotlight.  These multi-part projects are always fun and challenging for that reason.  For Antica Farmacista’s work, we wanted to show the care, craft, and most importantly the eye that the brand upholds with its products and aesthetics in each component. By showing the products in use as compliment to the product feature style used in the photos, a more subtle but meaningful approach to highlighting them, the video aspect of this work provides a practical grounding and deeper sense of the items and brand.

The end result is clean, beautiful video and still photography that exude the charm of Antica Farmacista’s wonderfully crafted products.  Even though we’ve been working together for some time now, it’s always a treat to have them come to us with their products, each one so full of personality and care, that let you know the people behind the company have a passion for their craft.

Antica Farmacista has captured old-world European charm and mystery with its collection of unique signature scents for the home and body that draw inspiration from the mystery of the Mediterranean Sea and the serenity of the gardens of Tuscany. Each fragrance is formulated with only the world’s finest essential oils and natural ingredients, and every product is meticulously produced and presented in an antique inspired apothecary bottle.
